I'VE BEEN SLIMED!

Hey Guys! I'm back with more MOVIE INSPIRED ART!

The fine folks at FANDANGO have comsissioned me to create another series of MOVIE ILLUSTRATIONS but this time focusing on Classic Films that are celebrating Anniversaries this year.

The first up is one of my all-time favorite Comedy flicks. One that I think most Nerds my age FULLY enjoyed growing up, GHOSTBUSTERS. This movie was COMEDIC GENIUS. GHOSTBUSTERS took the scary movie genre and switched up the game by making it more about LAUGHS than about Screams. Needless to say, I was PUMPED to do this Illustration, but what to draw?

I feel so many talented artists have created so many AMAZING GHOSTBUSTERS art pieces that I had to come up with something that was easily recognizable to HARDCORE fans while still appealing to the everyday audience. I decided to depict that Classic scene of VENKMAN's first encounter with SLIMER. The first scene of someone being SLIMED, but of course with a TT twist.

I wanted to capture Bill Murray's PERFECT Deadpan facial expression right before the SLIMING.

That FACE!! HAHA!

VENKMAN TT STYLE!

Next up was to draw the GHOST himself, SLIMER. As a kid I loved this character design. He was completely Disgusting/ Ugly & Cute at the same time. Definitely the winning formula to capture the Kid demo!

Look at this HANDSOME Devil
SLIMER TT STYLE!
With the Characters done, now to figure out how to depict the SLIMING Scene in a new & original way? I knew I wanted this Illustration to have Humor to it, so I thought what's the worst possible way to be slimed by a GHOST (in a PG manner)? Thats when I came up with the idea of being slimed via Sitting on One's HEAD! HAHHA!

'I'VE BEEN SLIMED'

Here is a close up of the final Vectored SLIMER.

I used a DARK GREEN for the outlines oppose to me Normal Black Lines for SLIMER.

The trick to this piece was to really make VENKMAN look like he was INSIDE SLIMER. A lot of thought went into keeping my "FLAT COLOR" style but illustrating "Depth" at the same time. The choice of colors was very important.

Again, to see the final image in all it's HI RES GLORY head to FANDANGO.com to see my 'I'VE BEEN SLIMED' Illustration celebrating GHOSTBUSTERS 30th Anniversary.

Remember kids, NEVER CROSS STREAMS!!

HEROES IN A HALF SHELL

The time has come to reveal my last SUMMER MOVIE BLOCKBUSTER Illustration for FANDANGO. If you couldn't tell by the title of this post, its the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES!!!!!

The TURTLES were by far one of my favorite childhood super heroes. I loved the cartoon first which lead me to learn about the comic book. After reading the comics I had such a new found love for the Turtles. Don't get me wrong I loved the light heartedness of the cartoon. Even the goofy humor. But it was the comic that delved more into the brotherhood and traditions of classic martial arts that made me appreciate the brand more....Plus Alien TRICERATOPS!

For this Illustration I wanted to combine the NEW with the OLD. I wanted to take that iconic TMNT Issue #1 cover art & put this new iteration of the Turtles in it, but with a look that is more reminiscent of the later comic book designs.

Here is the Cover Art for the first Turtle Adventure in Print (IDW HC version)

Here is a scan of my initial PENCIL LINE WORK no SHADOWS...yet.

MIKEY was way too big in the drawings. Something that I would address later. Next up: BLACK SHADOWS!

 BLACK SHADOWS
I adjusted MIKEY's scale a bit, but he was still too big compared to RAPH. I ended up adjusting his scale again once in Illustrator. Check out some close ups of each Turtle.
LEO- NO NOSTRILS & NO LIPS

RAPH AKA IRON TURTLE

DONNY- THE NERD

MIKEY- Always ready for some action and in correct Scale!

To buy your tickets to watch TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES & see the full complete HI-RES image of my Illustration, go to FANDANGO and stay tuned for more MOVIE ART from your's truly.

WHAT A BUNCH OF A-HOLES

‘WHAT A BUNCH OF A-HOLES’

11 x 17 PRINT on ARCHIVAL WATERCOLOR PAPER Each Print is signed, numbered, & HAND EMBOSSED with my DOUBLE T logo. LIMITED TO ONLY 50 PRINTS

If you haven't watched this movie yet, do yourself a favor and go watch it NOW! In my opinion the BEST MARVEL movie made to date. It is the perfect mix of story, humor, action & acting. Everything blended together effortlessly and perfectly. The VFX were top notch & NOT over the top. None of that CGI that looks soo out of place from the real life stuff that it becomes distracting. MARVEL took a HUGE risk making a feature film about a group of basically unknown comic book characters, but it worked.

This movie put together a group of "Losers" & produced a story about a family of "A-Holes" that made you cheer for the "Bad guys". If you want to be like KEVIN BACON (a HERO) & not have a "stick up your butt" go watch this movie & then buy a print.

They're the GOTG, BITCHES! Get your print at the link below:

WHAT A BUNCH OF A-HOLES

*This is for PRE-ORDER. Prints will start shipping AUG 22, 2014

I had already created another GOTG Illustration for FANDANGO, but I was soo pumped to see this movie that I created another one just for me to share with all of you in the interwebs. This one was more based on the humor and attitude I got from just the movie trailers. After seeing the movie I knew I my piece was right on target with the vibe of this MARVEL MASTERPIECE! WARNING!!! MIDDLE FINGER in full use in this Illustration. (Rocket you BAD-ASS, you)

Also if you look closely enough, the overall composition of the Illustration is one BIG FINGER to all who oppose the GOTG! Hope you like. ENJOY!

Rough/ Loose pencils.

I wasn't sure at first, if I was going to have Rocket flipping the bird. Plus I ran out of space at the top of the page. WHOOPS!

All VECTORIZED & ready to ROCK!
I decided to go full FINGER with Rocket. just to tie together the overall MIDDLE FINGER theme for this piece.
